Greg Chalmers has won the Emirates Australian Open by a shot after a thrilling fourth round at The Lakes Golf Club.

The Australian left-hander hit a 3 under par 69 in a final round that included five birdies and two bogeys. Chalmers finished at 13 under par, a shot ahead of fellow Australian and third round leader John Senden and two shots ahead of Tiger Woods. Despite hitting 5 under par in the final round, Woods was unable to do enough to repair the damage done by his 3 over par third round score.

Defending champion Geoff Ogilvy rallied in the fourth round and produced a stunning 7 under par round to climb up the leaderboard and finish joint 4th at 9 under par alongside Jason Day, Nick O’Hern, Adam Scott and Nick Watney.

Chalmers started the day two shots behind round three leader John Senden but hit 3 birdies in the first 7 holes to move two shots in front. Senden was able to reduce the deficit to a shot and was a 15m putt away from forcing the playoff on the 18th. But the was unable to make the shot handing Chalmers the victory and the chance of lifting the Stonehaven Cup.
