The Presidents Cup 2011 will be played at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia between the 24th and 27th of November.
The tournament was lasted played at the club in 1998 when Jack Nicklaus led the U.S. Team to victory 20 ½ points to 11 ½ points. The Presidents Cup is a charity event and instead of awarding prize money the proceeds of the event go to charity. The players, captains and captains assistants nominate which charities they’d like to see The Presidents Cup purse donated to. $13,000,000 was raised for charities all over the world by the first six Presidents Cups.
U.S. Team
Fred Couples is the 2011 US Team Captain for The Presidents Cup and has named Jay Haas and Michael Jordan as the two official captain’s assistants. International Team
Greg Norman has been named team captain for The Presidents Cup International Team for the 2nd time having also captained the team in 2009. Norman is also a past participant in the tournament having played for the International Team in 1996, 1998 and 2000. Greg Norman has picked Aaron Baddeley and Robert Allenby to play alongside the 10 players who automatically qualified for the International Team.
