BMW PGA Championship

The BMW PGA Championship is an annual tournament on the European Tour and is currently named after it’s sponsors, BMW. Established in 1955 by the Professional Golfer’s Association the tournament was originally called the British PGA Championship. Since then, the tournament has undergone a number of re-brands depending on the sponsor’s name but “PGA Championship” has usually remained in its name.

The BMW PGA Championship is hosted at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England and played on the West Cours. The event is held in May and by many is regarded as the flagship tournament on the PGA European Tour.

BMW PGA Championship Prize Money

The tournaments stature on the European Tour has meant that the prize money for the event is usually higher than any other event of the European Tour. However, the Race to Dubai and the Dubai World Championship changed this. As well as high prize money the winner of the event also receives a minimum of 64 ranking points.
