Marbella is famous for being a paradise holiday destination with great weather, lovely beaches and designer shopping promenades where you will often spot a celebrity or two. Marbella is one of the most exclusive towns on the Costa del Sol. It attracts visitors from around the world who have an interest in walking its Golden Mile and exploring the designer boutiques.
But you might not be aware that Marbella is also one of the world’s premier destinations for golf. If you enjoy combining a spot of travel with getting out on the course, this part of the Costa del Sol offers a truly huge range of clubs to experience. There around 70 different courses within easy reach of coastline – and many in very close proximity to Marbella.
For the more seasoned and serious golfers who enjoy the area, check out this guide to golf properties – or for the more fleeting visitors planning a trip to Marbella to take advantage of the amazing conditions and facilities for golf, here are five of the most amazing courses in the area that you really need to try:
La Quinta Golf & Country Club
The course is designed by three-time world champion Manuel Pinero. La Quinta enjoys some of the most stunning views of any course in Spain. With 27 holes, the course is actually split into three 9-hole courses. This means that there is something for every skill level, no matter what kind of challenge you are looking for.
The first course, San Pedro, has large and wide fairways. The second, La Ronda, is shorter but more technically challenging. Guadaiza, the third course, is the most visually spectacular of the lot.

Aloha Golf Club
Aloha Golf Club is one of the most prestigious names in the region, having hosted many professional tournaments in recent years, including the Open de Andalucia in 2007, 2008 and 2012, hosting a large number of top professionals. It’s easy to see what makes the course popular. It is a mix of charming undulated fairways and greens with the dramatic backdrop of La Concha mountain.
This is an 18 hole, par 72 course set across parkland. At 6,882 yards it is one of the longest in the area. Nevertheless, golfers of all abilities will have a great time here.

Real Club de Golf Las Brisas
Las Brisas is perhaps one of the most picturesque courses found anywhere on the Costa del Sol. With charming ponds, trees and even wildlife often visible, the course feels more like a nature reserve than a golf club. Another very long course at 7,065 yards across 13 holes. Nonetheless, the variety of terrains makes it one of the more challenging places to play on this list.
If you are looking for a course that looks beautiful and also provides you with a real test for a range of different skills, Las Brisas can be a perfect choice. Of course, being a club you will also find a good range of facilities including a driving range and putting greens to get in some practice.
