The Oculus Quest 2 is a virtual reality headset designed to take gaming to the next level. Your head locks in. Your hands lock in. Your mind locks in. Gaming with an Oculus Quest 2 is an immersive experience. Today, we’re looking at the best games for golfers.
Virtual reality golf is the perfect combination of relaxation, fun, and practice. While it’s mostly the first two, we always throw practice in. In (virtual) reality, any time involving the game we love is the chance to pick up something new. And just the same way you might trick a kid into doing some chores by making it into a game, the Oculus Quest 2 adds a bit of fun to all things golf.
We cannot promise you that playing one of the best VR golf games on the Oculus Quest 2 will feel like real golf. If that’s what you’re expecting, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. We can, however, promise a device so technically sound it’s impossible to not lose yourself in the experience. We also hand-picked a variety of games that suit every golfer’s preference.
1. Walkabout Mini Golf
People will argue for baseball, but I believe mini golf should be America’s pastime. Baseball is dropping off and golf, specifically mini golf, is on the rise. People of all ages love the game, and thanks to Walkabout Mini Golf and the Oculus Quest 2, you don’t even have to leave your living room.
If you’re playing by yourself, Walkabout Mini Golf is perfect for a relaxing day using your Oculus Quest 2. If you want to get a bit more competitive, the game offers the option for a private match with up to 5 people.
You won’t get bored with this game given the eight, 18-hole courses it comes with. Getting even better, there’s a night version of the game. This setting is a bit more difficult, but a whole lot more fun. Think Rainbow Road, but for mini golf.
Walkabout Mini Golf gives you more to do than play the same courses over and over. The game can be a bit of an adventure with 140 custom balls hid throughout the courses and the ability to unlock special putters. These built in easter eggs add a bit of excitement and allow you to add some custom flair to your putt-putt game.
2. Golf+ TopGolf with ProPutt
18-hole courses, 18-hole experiences. From tee to green, you can battle it out against friends or try to beat your low. Golf+ is one of the best VR games for those that want to feel like they’re on the course.
Golf+ is so realistic that you even take divots with most shots. Fortunately for the sake of course conditions, you do not need to replace the divots. Granted, this wouldn’t be that bad of an exercise given the conditions of most courses in real life.
TopGolf driving ranges are all the rage. Rather than making what can be quite a trek to the nearest one, you have immediate access with Golf+. Have a little fun with some target practice amongst friends or test your own skills. Whatever you want, you have with the TopGolf feature in Golf+.
As if courses and driving ranges weren’t enough, Golf+ comes with ProPutt. With some cool putting only courses ready for you to rock, you can brush up on nearly every skill using this game. If you ask us (or anyone to ever download Golf+ for their Oculus Quest 2), there’s enough styles and options you’ll never get bored with this one.
3. CloudLands 2
If you can’t decide between mini golf or playing full holes, CloudLands 2 is a great choice. Thanks to a user-friendly design, you can effortlessly switch between the two options. If you really can’t decide between the two, you can pick out courses that are a combination of the two.
If you’re a builder, you need your next Oculus Quest 2 game to be CloudLands 2. Not only can you play some awesome mini golf courses, you can create your own as well. With CloudLands 2, you have access to 1000 different pieces you can use to make your perfect course. You can build. You can play. You can tinker. You can play again.
In CloudLands 2, there are multiple options for playing with friends. Like most games, there is the common ability to be part of a group of people (4) where you can be in different locations, but still play the same game. Where this game differs is the local multiplayer option. You can pass your Oculus Quest 2 back and forth with a friend, or use this feature to play two balls as we do in real life on an open course.
4. Golf 5 eClub
Golf 5 eClub does not have as many options as other games. But the options that it does have are so well designed and user-friendly that you really don’t mind. Rather than a bunch of game modes and courses that are a bit rough around the edges, these game designers perfected everything in the game.
Compared to other games with the Oculus Quest 2, the graphics in Golf 5 eClub are second to none. Besides the obvious fact you’re using a VR headset, this option is as close to using a full-scale golf simulator as you’ll find.
Driving range, putting green, full course—all the options you’re looking for are there. Advanced stats, handicap tracking, and course information give all the feel of a real round. If you really want a game that will look and feel like practicing golf, Golf 5 eClub is your first choice.
