The IJP AW15 Collection has a carefully chosen palette and styles that perfectly compliment Autumn golf in the Britain. Deep burgundy purples, a faded-green yellow and a coniferous green evoke the colours of parkland golf courses as winter draws in. Framed using colours that acknowledge the onset of winter; blues, white and black.
I assembled an IJP AW15 outfit consisting of the Poulter Tartan trousers, a V-neck navy jumper and Shard golf shirt. Teaming up the Poulter Tartan trousers with the Shard shirt from the range accented with the same colours. The trousers and shirt worn without the the jumper is a little more conspicuous than most golfers would prefer. But worn with the jumper the shirt collar and V-neck compliment the trousers and add a flourish to the look.
The quality of fabrics, cut, seams and finish are exactly what you’d expect from IJP Designs, luxurious and faultless. They afford a freedom of movement and frictionless contact that make it feel great to swing a golf club. The confidence boost of playing in quality golf clothing isn’t too dissimilar to the feeling of addressing the ball with your favourite club.
Ian Poulter wears his own line of golf clothing which helps breed confidence in the quality of clothing he will put his name to. Here he is photographed wearing the Tour version of the Shard shirt at the 2015 UBS Hong Kong Open.
I had the pleasure of trialing the range in British winter weather and in UAE during the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai. I was there on business and didn’t get the opportunity to spend a day at Jumeirah Golf Estates. But there was a golf course adjoining our hotel, the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
The weather was in the 30 degrees Celsius plus so I didn’t wear the jumper but the trousers and shirt made for an equally pleasant golfing experience as in Britain a few degrees above freezing.
IJP Design: Poulter Tartan Golf Trousers
The Poulter Tartan golf trousers are easily my favourite part of the outfit. Golf is the only sport where it’s possible to wear flamboyant and sometimes outrageous trousers. The Poulter Tartan design – which is registered with Scottish Tartan Authority – is understated enough to be within my “acceptable clothing to leave the house” comfort zone. Featuring a double internal waist band and fastening, half lines and bias cut trimmed pockets with signature side splits.
The only criticism I have of the trousers (and the outfit as a whole) is of the trouser pockets. If you wear them sitting down, the contents of your pockets are likely to fall out onto the chair. I had to do regular phone, keys, wallet checks to ensure I hadn’t left them where I was sat.
IJP Design: Crest V Golf Jumper
The IJP Design Crest V jumper is made from a premium blend of cotton, extra fine merino wool and nylon. It’s durable, lightweight and suitable for cold and mild conditions. The Poulter range is designed so you can layer up or down to accommodate for changes in weather conditions.
IJP Design: Shard Golf Shirt
The IJP Shard golf shirt is made from 95% Polyester and 5% Elastane quick dry. The polyester achieves a lightweight shirt while the Elastane improves freedom of movement and helps the shirt dry quickly.
The shirt helps inspire confidence addressing the ball and feels great to wear when swinging a golf club.
